McMullen VINELink Is Historical
Texas ended the old county VINE brand on September 1, 2025. The current county notification service is Texas IVSS-Counties. Existing registrations were reported as migrated, but current searches and new alert settings belong in IVSS. The old name remains useful because people still search for VINELink, yet old instructions should not be followed as if the prior interface were live.
County and state systems are distinct. IVSS-Counties can cover booking, release, court, death, escape, and transfer-to-TDCJ events from participating county agencies. TDCJ IVSS is the separate portal for prison, parole, mandatory supervision, release, discharge, and related state events. A McMullen arrest can move between those systems if the person is transferred into TDCJ.
Search McMullen County IVSS Records
McMullen County does not publish an official jail roster or recent-release feed. The Sheriff may also use another county to house a detainee. That makes custodian identification the first search step. IVSS participation is not universal, and the physical housing county may be the agency that reports the event.
- Call the McMullen County Sheriff at 361-274-3311 and ask which jail holds or held the person for the relevant booking.
- Open IVSS-Counties and search without registering. Select McMullen only if it appears and matches the custody episode; otherwise check the confirmed housing county.
- Use the available name or identity fields. Compare every displayed identifier before opening or saving a record.
- Review the status and event history. Separate release from transfer to TDCJ, another jail, USMS, or ICE.
- Confirm the event with the reporting jail and McMullen Sheriff. Request the release timestamp and disposition when a legal record is needed.

McMullen IVSS Release Events
The Attorney General identifies event categories supported by the county system, but live labels and fields can change. Read the result exactly as displayed. Do not invent a phrase such as “released to community” when the system shows only a release or transfer event. The physical custodian’s record supplies the controlling door time and destination.

A release from one jail can leave another hold in force. It does not always mean unrestricted return to the community. Match the IVSS time to the jail release sheet and court order before describing the outcome.
Register McMullen Release Notifications
Search and registration are separate. Find and verify the correct record first. Then use the controls shown by the live portal. The Attorney General describes one-time registration, call, text, and email choices, plus preferred hours or blackout dates where offered. Save the confirmation so the subscription can be checked later.
- Select the verified person and custody record in IVSS-Counties or TDCJ IVSS.
- Create or register the account using the current on-screen controls.
- Choose the offered phone, text, or email method and the events relevant to the custody episode.
- Set preferred contact hours or blackout periods if the current portal offers them.
- Complete contact verification and retain the registration confirmation.
- When an alert arrives, call the named custodian to verify release type, time, and destination.
The Texas Attorney General notification page lists county IVSS support at 866-268-8959, available around the clock in English and Spanish. TDCJ victim-services support for its separate system is 800-848-4284 and victim.svc@tdcj.texas.gov.
McMullen IVSS Housing-County Layer
McMullen’s local setup makes the current notification layer unusually important. The official Sheriff page offers contact information but no public roster or release feed. Historical official material shows that McMullen considered an inmate-housing agreement with Atascosa County in 2021. That does not prove the current jail for any later arrest. It does show why a McMullen-originated case and its physical release record may sit with different agencies.
Search the confirmed custodian, not a guessed one. If McMullen does not appear as an IVSS participant, ask the Sheriff which county physically housed the person, then search that jurisdiction. When a match appears, register on that exact record. Verify each alert with both the housing jail and McMullen Sheriff because one controls the door event while the other may control the arrest and transport file.

The screen supports the current Texas search route. It does not, by itself, prove McMullen participation or one person’s release.
Keep a simple search log. Record the spelling used, jurisdiction selected, date and time, matched identity fields, and event wording. If no McMullen record appears, do not widen the claim to “no custody.” Call the Sheriff and test the verified housing county. A juvenile or confidential case, a delayed interface, an old event, or a nonparticipating custodian may not appear in the public portal.
If a county event reports transfer to TDCJ, preserve that exact description. The person left the county jail, but state incarceration began or continued. Open the TDCJ search with the same identity details and confirm the state record before registering in the separate TDCJ IVSS system.
McMullen TDCJ IVSS Checks
Use TDCJ IVSS when the person entered Texas state prison or is under TDCJ parole or mandatory supervision. Search by TDCJ number, SID, or name as the live controls allow. Compare the match with the official TDCJ offender search, which can show location, offenses, and a projected release date for a current state inmate.
State events can include parole review, release to supervision, discharge, and supervision-warrant changes offered by the service. Each means something different. A projected date is a calculation, not an actual release. Parole eligibility is only a point at which review may occur. Discharge ends a sentence or supervision term, while release to supervision means state control continues outside prison.
Do not use TDCJ IVSS for a person who only left a county jail on bond. Conversely, a county transfer-to-TDCJ alert should send the search to the state portal rather than be reported as freedom from custody.
The Texas DPS registry is another distinct system. It applies only to people who have a legal registration duty and may show supervision language for a matching registrant. It is not a backup list of all released people. An absent registry result says nothing about ordinary county or state custody, while a match must be checked against the official identity fields.
Historical VINELink PIN Instructions
Old Texas VINE brochures described a four-digit telephone PIN. A registrant entered that PIN followed by the pound key to acknowledge an automated call and stop repeat calls, which could continue for up to 48 hours without acknowledgment. That procedure belongs only to the superseded VINE system.
Current Attorney General material does not document a four-digit IVSS PIN. Do not create one unless the live IVSS portal specifically requests it. Existing registrations were reported as migrated, but users should still verify their contact choices and saved records in the current service.

McMullen Release Alert Limits
Neither IVSS system is a complete custody record. Data can arrive late, participation can vary, and a notification can describe movement between custodians. The alert does not supply the signed authority, complete court outcome, or every hold. A negative search can also result from a spelling difference, confidential case, delayed entry, old database range, wrong county, or nonparticipating agency.
Federal custody needs different tools. The Bureau of Prisons locator covers sentenced federal prisoners and may show a released status and date. USMS has no general public prisoner locator for federal pretrial or transport custody. ICE uses its own detainee locator. County IVSS and TDCJ IVSS should never be presented as covering those systems.
A released person usually drops from a live custody roster. That absence proves only that the person is not shown there now. An affirmative event, custodian record, or agency confirmation is needed to state that release occurred.
For a complete court outcome, ask the combined McMullen County/District Clerk for the docket and signed order or judgment. A notification may say that a custody event occurred, while the court record explains bond, sentence, dismissal, revocation, or other legal authority. Neither replaces the physical jail’s release timestamp.
